Uh, funny story, I completely forgot the Saturday post…
1. Consumption
Water: I had a few glasses of water, washed my hands a few times, and had a six minute shower.
Food: I had bacon, toast, Instant Breakfast, chicken, and broccoli.
Electricity: I didn’t use the computer the whole day, but I did watch TV for a while.
Gasoline: I wasn’t driven anywhere today.
Money: I bought hot chocolate.
2. Reduction
I tried to reduce the amount of money I spent, and I tried to eat less. It was easy to reduce my eating because I eat less on the weekends.
3. Sustainability
Looking at the week overall, I think I could definitely spend less money, keep my showers short, and use little or no gasoline. It would be hard to reduce my electricity by too much because the thing I use the most is my computer for homework.

This isn’t really about other people’s posts, it’s about the impact guy. I thought I was reducing pretty well, but it really is nothing compared to what he’s doing. But even he isn’t doing too much, according to the “crazy plant guy”, who said that the fact that his wife is taking the stairs doesn’t balance out the waste her company uses.
1. Consumption
Water: I took a five minute shower, washed my hands several times, and drank maybe seven cups of water.
Food: I had Instant Breakfast, pizza, bacon, another Instant Breakfast package, and some steak.
Electricity: I didn’t really have to use my computer because I don’t do homework on Friday, and later I went to the Hypnotist show. When I got home after that I didn’t really use a lot of lights because I didn’t stay up that late.
Gasoline: Alright, for the first time all week, I was driven somewhere. My mom drove me to the Hypnotist and then back home.
Money: I spent $10 on one of the CDs the Hypnotist sold.
2. Reduction
I reduced my water consumption; and although it doesn’t look like it, I also reduced my food consumption. It doesn’t look like it, but I usually eat a lot more than that. I only had tiny pieces of steak. I was afraid I would wake up in the middle of the night and be hungry (seriously).
3. Sustainability
As I said when this project started, I could definitely keep my showers from five to eight minutes long. I’m not normally driven places, so keeping my gasoline use at a low level shouldn’t be too hard. I think eating less food will be very difficult though, I’m constantly hungry. Even though I realize that a small portion of what I eat could fill someone in a developing country up. When I came into this project, I thought that I didn’t spend any money throughout the week. I look back on this week though, and I realized that I spend a lot $7.00 (at Chicken Now) + $4.50 (gum) + $3.00 (coffee) + $5.00(food and a drink) + $10.00(Hypnotist CD) = $29.50 (Total). Instead of saving money I spent a ton. Even though this won’t be for the project, I’m going to try harder to not spend so much money. Not only do people in developing countries not have as much as me, but I’m also going to run out of my summer job’s pay soon if I keep it up.
4. Following
I noticed that a lot of people have reduced their food consumption, and many have reduced it by eating little to nothing at all. This is quite impressive. Food is probably the hardest thing to reduce for me, but everyone proves that it can be done.
1. Consumption
Water: I drank five glasses of water, I took a five minute shower, brushed my teeth, and washed my hands a lot today.
Food: I had Instant Breakfast; I didn’t have lunch today because I was selling hypnotist tickets, so after school I went to the truck and bought a sandwich and chicken. When I got home I ate bacon, toast, and eggs for dinner.
Electricity: I’m using my computer to do homework, and the lights are on in the rooms that people are in. I forgot this whole week to say that I have been charging my computer, phone, and mp3 player. But I take the plugs out of the outlets when their done though. Also, I used the toaster.
Gasoline: I didn’t drive anywhere.
Money: I spent five dollars on food and a drink after school.
2. Reduction
Alright, so I guess I didn’t really did do a good job reducing today. But wait! I don’t have to use my computer for much longer, because this is my only homework assignment. So I will use less technology today. I win.
3. Sustainability
I can’t really use less technology in the long run, because I always have a lot of homework. However, I can definitely spend less money and eat a little less. This day is just an outlier, per se in terms of the whole week.

I tried to use the water calculator, but it kept freezing on me after I restarted several times. I’ll try it again tomorrow.
1. Consumption
Water: I didn’t drink much water today. I took a six minute shower, brushed my teeth, and washed my hands several times.
Food: I had Instant Breakfast, a sub at lunch, pizza at Uppercrust, and cookies
Electricity: I used my mp3 player today on the bus and when I was going home. I didn’t use my computer as much because I barely had homework. The lights are on only in the rooms where people are.
Gasoline: My parents didn’t drive me anywhere.
Money: I spent $3.00 on two packs of gum and $3.00 on coffee. I bought the coffee because I went to sleep really late last night. Oh I also spent $5 on tickets for the Hypnotist.
2. Reduction
I shut off the faucet when I brushed my teeth. My shower was a little longer, but I was exhausted I needed the extra minute to wake up. I drank less water, which isn’t really good because I’m supposed to have six to eight glasses a day. So I guess it’s good that I just shut off the faucet when I brushed my teeth.
3. Sustainability
I could easily shut the faucet off each time. The reason I didn’t before is because when it’s early in the morning it’s hard to think. But I’ll remember the number of gallons I use a week so I think I’ll be fine.
4. Following
A lot of people cut down their shower hours, which impressed me. The reason my showers are so short anyway is because my mom enforces a maximum time for them because we had an expensive water bill. It was VERY difficult. The fact that people did it so easily is great.
1. Consumption
Water: five minute shower, washed my hands several times, drank three glasses of water, flushed the toilet twice
Food: Instant Breakfast, pizza, fries, some cookies, steak, potatoes
Electricity: I have the light on in the room I’m working in, and I’m on the computer doing a lot of homework yet again.
Gasoline: I didn’t go anywhere (in the car).
Money: I spent $1.25 on a pack of gum.
2. Reduction
I tried to go the whole day without using my mp3 player, and to make sure I didn’t listen to it, I left it at home. It was horrible. I usually listen to music on the way to school and then play games on my way home, but I didn’t have anything. It was extremely boring and the trips seemed to take three times as long. I also drank less water (unconsciously, I just didn’t fill up my water bottle as much).
3. Sustainability
There is no way I’ll be able to permanently leave my mp3 player at home. Music just makes everything run smoother for me, and without it I would be more stressed out. I had two tests today and I couldn’t focus. I think I could drink less water, because I’m not really thirsty all the time, but I don’t think that’s healthy…
4. Extra Question
A lot of people have tried shortening their showers, so maybe I can try to shorten the five minute shower I already take.
1. Consumption
Water: I took a five minute shower, I drank six cups of water, washed my hands several times, and washed my dishes.
Food: I had Instant Breakfast, a meatball sub, a muffin, some cookies, and I went to chicken now and got the number one…I’m going to the gym tomorrow no worries…
Electricity: I wasn’t on the computer all day again, because I was at school all day. I’m on it now though, and I’ll probably be on it until 11. All the lights are on in the house, but because everyone is in a different room.
Gasoline: I didn’t go anywhere.
Money: I didn’t realize that it was no money Monday. If I had known I wouldn’t have gone to chicken now. Whoops. Well that will probably be the only time I spend money this week so I guess it’s alright.
2. Reduction
Well I was forced to use less electricity because I was in school for half the day. But I ate more than I did yesterday, I’m going to try and eat less as the week progresses.
3. Sustainability
I would definitely use electricity less if I didn’t have so much homework. Like I said before I think reducing the amount I eat would be hard because I eat a lot.
4. Extra Question
I saw that a lot of people tried really hard not to spend money, which I think is a good thing. I’m kind of a cheapskate when it comes to spending so it’s a lot easier for me.
1. Consumption
Water: I took a five minute shower, drank five cups of water, and washed my hands several times.
Food: I had bacon, cheez-its, steak, broccoli, soup, some cookies, and an apple.
Electricity: I’ve been on the computer all day to do the college recommendation survey that was due last month. I have the light on in the dining room, where I’ve been working. I haven’t watched any T.V.
Gasoline: I haven’t gone anywhere today.
Money: I haven’t spent any money today.
2. Reduction
I couldn’t really scale back anything, because this is my daily routine. I needed the computer for the whole day to do homework. I always take very short showers and use water as little as I can. I don’t normally go on facebook that often, so avoiding it wasn’t hard for me. I think the thing that would be the hardest to scale back is food. I eat when I’m bored and I’m always hungry.
3. Sustainability
I think that the way I’m living now doesn’t really have to be reduced. I don’t use that many resources. I think I can eat less food overall though, and aside from doing homework, I could definitely watch less T.V.
